Day 2
Today we went to San
Carlo School for the second time this week, compared to the previous visit this
was a lot more beneficial because of how involved we became when leading the
different activities in the lessons.
The first lesson that
we attended was skipping. The children were being assessed in the ability of
skipping. The teacher was calling up the kids one by one to mark the ability;
they were judge upon how many skips they could perform. We then decided to create
and run an activity that involved the whole class instead of individual
performances. We did this by running through a long skipping rope without
touching the rope. This interacted all of the pupils instead of them waiting to
be assessed, this was a major positive in the day.
The second activity
was handball; we led the game at the end of the session, separating the groups
into 4 creating a tournament. Before the game the pupils had to warm up, we
were asked to too create and run a warm up for the kids we did a simple game of
Traffic Lights. This was very beneficial, as we had to create and run our own
warm up session and lead the full session.
We then went over to
the swimming pool to observe the lesson. This was the most disappointing aspect
of the day as we couldn’t get involved in the session as much as we would like,
this was understandable as there was a swimming gala which was exciting to
watch, the races were exciting as it was different to what happens in our
school this was the reason behind our lack of involvement in this session.
